My New Year’s Resolution
It’s that time of the year when people make a list of what they’re going to do for a change this year. I used to not make one, but for some odd reasons, I decided to hop in the wagon. This is quite a short list for a simple reason that I want to keep them. Making a very long list will be useless if I’m gonna break them anyways.
1. I have come to realize that I should be more proactive in seeking for opportunities waiting to be grabbed. I’ve been working my ass for almost four years. I know my worth and what I can do. With this, I promise to look for job opportunities every four months, to check my market value. Then from there, I’ll see if it would be a Deal or No Deal.
2. I lost weight, so I’ll maintain what is left with me. I’m not going to commit on a particular diet, but I will not allow myself to jump in the 100 lbs range again.
3. I will be less workaholic. I learned my lesson: staying in the office for 16 hours does not guarantee you the feeling of fulfillment. Once you sit in your cubicle, you will always have this feeling that something else can be done, hence the start of the vicious cycle. It’s just not healthy.
4. For the past two weeks, I saw Raisha and Andy play. I saw the twinkle in their eyes. I listened to their contagious chuckles and giggles. I saw them play. Yes, it may be the typical tandem of the dominant ate and the naughty bunso, but it’s the perfect picture in the eyes of a mother. I am moved by their bond amidst our obviously unhealthy setup. It’s simply heartwarming. With this, I’ll make sure that they have more time together.
There is a reason why I posted my resolution. It’s because I want you, yes you, to be a part of it. I know that you have a part in my life. And with that, I want you to help me to change for the better. Feel free to call my attention should I be forgetting a particular number in my list.
